The Lowville Red Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the South Lewis Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Lowville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Watertown on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cyclones by a score of 4-3. That makes it the first time this season the Red Raiders have let down their home crowd.
Brycen Villiere and Aiydan Waugh put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Villiere pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Waugh pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Villiere has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Villiere went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Waugh got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Spence, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Spence is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, South Lewis came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Beavers by a score of 9-4.
Conner Carpenter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kal Cihocki, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
The loss was their first at home, dropping their record down to 5-3. As for South Lewis, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Lowville got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2024 against South Lewis by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
