Baseball Recap: LEAP Academy Comes Up Short

LEAP Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Wildwood Warriors, falling 14-0. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

LEAP Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yanathan Bernard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. Bernard is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

LEAP Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Wildwood, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LEAP Academy will challenge Lindenwold at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wildwood, they will take on Wildwood Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.86 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
