Baseball Game Preview: Naperville Central Redhawks vs. DeKalb Barbs

For the second straight game, Naperville Central will face off against DeKalb. The Redhawks will be playing at home against the Barbs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Naperville Central didn't have quite enough to beat DeKalb and fell 4-3. The Redhawks haven't had much luck with the Barbs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For DeKalb's part, Brodie Farrell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Farrell has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Farrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Kees, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

DeKalb's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Naperville Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
