Marple Newtown and Penncrest are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Fightin' Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Marple Newtown is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Marple Newtown fell victim to Springfield and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 1-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Fightin' Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Springfield hit Penncrest with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell 7-3 to the Cougars. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Penncrest got a good showing from Liam Wray, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Wray gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Nash Grant made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Marple Newtown's record is now 3-7. As for Penncrest, their record now sits at 4-11.

Marple Newtown came out on top in a nail-biter against Penncrest in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fightin' Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
