Softball Recap: Kirkwood Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Kirkwood got themselves on the board against Northeast on Thursday, but Northeast never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Eagles. The contest marked the Cobras' most dominant win of the season.

Maddie Ratcliff was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Ratcliff was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kirkwood got a massive performance out of Kiara Conley, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Moana Tuuaga was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Kirkwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .561 or higher in three consecutive games.

Kirkwood pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Northeast, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Coming up, Kirkwood will square off against Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Northeast, they will challenge West Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Coyote have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.89 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
