Softball Recap: Johnson Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Johnson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Laredo LBJ Wolves on Saturday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brianna Kirkup looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kiersten Williams was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Emree Massaad also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Johnson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Johnson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Laredo LBJ, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-14.

Johnson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolves: the pair will be back at it again later today.
