Kaine Mclendon Earns League's Top Spot

Starting off the list is Albemarle's Kaine McLendon, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday McLendon rushed for 97 yards on only ten carries. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards.

The victory snapped Albemarle's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record. McLendon and Albemarle will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Stanly at 7:30 p.m.

A Season-Best Effort from David Wignot Leads Lake Norman Charter over South Stanly

David Wignot produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Lake Norman Charter to the win on Friday. Wignot threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 134 yards on only 12 carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended a pass.

This year, Wignot has thrown 18 touchdowns while averaging 184.1 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 84.13 passing yards per game.

Major Leak Turns in Season-Best Performance

Lake Norman Charter was led to victory by Major Leak, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Leak picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The effort also marked the most rushing yards (seven) he has had since back in September of 2023. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending a pass.

On the year, Leak has caught 13 touchdowns while averaging 117.4 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 75.5 receiving yards per game.

Another Game with at Least Five Total Tackles from Vincent Gregory

Vincent Gregory continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his 13th-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least five total tackles. He produced his best game of the campaign : he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

For the season, Gregory has averaged 7.6 total tackles per game and for the season has those 1 sack.

Breshen Bennett Rounds Out Top Five

Rounding off our Top Five is Breshen Bennett of Union Academy. Bennett picked up 25 receiving yards.

Union Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4. Bennett and Union Academy will challenge South Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
