Preview: Grandview Wolves vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars
Grandview is 7-2 against Cherokee Trail since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Grandview Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Grandview is ranked 14th, while Cherokee Trail is ranked 35th).
Last Friday, Grandview was fully in charge, breezing past Smoky Hill 41-8 on the road. Grandview's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Liam Szarka went supernova for Grandview, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Dominic Henning also helped out with an impressive 108 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Cherokee Trail's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-7 loss at the hands of Arapahoe. Cherokee Trail was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Grandview's victory lifted them to 6-2 while Cherokee Trail's loss dropped them down to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Grandview against Cherokee Trail in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 28-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grandview since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
