Basketball Game Preview: Piute Thunderbirds vs. Whitehorse Raiders

The Piute Thunderbirds just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Whitehorse Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Whitehorse will be up against a hot Piute team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Piute secured a 59-53 W over Valley on Thursday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whitehorse). They claimed a resounding 93-36 win over Monument Valley. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 27 points or more this season.

Whitehorse's win came from a few key players Piute will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dominic Dance, who posted 17 points. Kalin Tohonnie was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Piute pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Whitehorse, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Piute strolled past Whitehorse when the teams last played back in February of 2020 by a score of 54-35. Will Piute repeat their success, or does Whitehorse have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
