Soccer Game Preview: North vs. South

North hasn't had much luck against South recently, but that could start to change on Friday. It'll be Northside v. Southside when the North Stars and the South Spartans meet at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

North is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against East Bakersfield, falling 4-0. That's two games in a row now that the Stars have lost by exactly four goals.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for South's offense. They fell just short of Mira Monte by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Lions are ranked 176th).

This is the second loss in a row for South and nudges their season record down to 8-7-1. As for North, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
