Softball Recap: Fayette Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Middleton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayette Academy). They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Middleton Tigers on Thursday. Considering the Vikings have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Leah Culver made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Culver was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Ladner, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Hannah Fly, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Fayette Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Middleton, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Fayette Academy will head out to face off against First Assembly Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Middleton, they will head out on the road to take on Halls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
