Football Recap: Alcovy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Alcovy's offense. They were outmatched by the Rockdale County Bulldogs and fell 40-0. The defeat leaves the Tigers still looking for their first win of the season.

Even if they lost, Alcovy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Quinndale James, Bryson Knight, and Kavion Sutton, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Rockdale County's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deontae Burtts, who threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Those three passing touchdowns gave Burtts a new career-high. Jaylen 'JT' Thomas also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Alcovy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Rockdale County, the victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Alcovy and Rockdale County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Tigers see the field they'll take on Winder-Barrow at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Rockdale County, their break will end when they face South Gwinnett at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
