Volleyball Recap: Indio Comes Up Short

If Indio was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Southwest EC on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rajahs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Spartans on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rajahs of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While Indio ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Indio lost, don't look at Anitzi Zarco. Despite the final result, she had 53 digs. Zarco is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Indio's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indio will square off against Bloomington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Calexico at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
