Volleyball Recap: San Leandro Extends Winning Streak to Three

San Leandro had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Alameda Hornets by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in March.

San Leandro had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22.

Avery Stone paced San Leandro's offense, picking up 23 kills. Stone got some help from Collin Peav and his 55 assists. Stone was also solid from the service line: he led the team with eight aces.

San Leandro pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Alameda, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Leandro will welcome Piedmont at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Alameda and Bishop O'Dowd will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
