Munster took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Kankakee Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kougars on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since September 14, 2024.

Munster had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-11.

Ally Compton paced Munster's offense, picking up 13 kills. Compton got some help from Taylor Pumphrey and her 17 assists. Cadence Patterson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

When it comes to explaining why Kankakee Valley lost, don't look at Emmie Przybylski. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs. Przybylski has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

With the win, Munster broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-24-1. As for Kankakee Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-11.

Looking ahead, Munster will head out to square off against Highland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kankakee Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Kouts on the 8th.
