Basketball Recap: Cotter Takes a Loss

Cotter lost against Aquinas back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cotter Ramblers took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aquinas Blugolds. While losing is never fun, the Ramblers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 94th in Minnesota, while the Blugolds are ranked 23rd in Wisconsin).

Aquinas was led to victory by Emma Dobbins and Samantha Davis. Dobbins went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points and seven boards, while Davis went 6-for-14 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Dobbins also posted three assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Ava Fernholz was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Cotter's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Aquinas, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

Cotter has already played their next match, a 54-42 loss against Lourdes on the 15th. As for Aquinas, they will take on Assumption at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
