Basketball Recap: O'Neill Eagles vs. Lakeview Vikings
O'Neill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeview Vikings. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one point.

Despite the defeat, O'Neill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braxen Eichelberger en route to 17 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Eichelberger a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Turner Heiss, who posted 16 points and six boards.
Lakeview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Tomky, who on his way to 14 points. Caleb Sloup also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Lakeview, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-13.
O'Neill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakeview, they have already played their next contest, a 52-42 defeat against Concordia on the 25th.
