Football Recap: Bellefonte's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Bellefonte had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-3 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Penns Valley Area Rams by a score of 27-20. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kaven Smith-kirk was his usual excellent self, rushing for 181 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jackson Long, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bellefonte was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 320 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

As for Penns Valley Area, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Bellefonte since Friday.

Penns Valley Area's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Ironside, who threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes. Ironside also put up six rushing yards, which were his first of the season. Penns Valley Area's leading receiver Fletcher Ironside was Carter's top target yet again, picking up 102 receiving yards and one TD.

Bellefonte wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-14 defeat against Bald Eagle Area on the 26th. As for Penns Valley Area, they have also already played their next game, a 46-14 loss against Clearfield on the 26th.
