Basketball Game Preview: Deer Trail Eagles vs. Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles

The Deer Trail Eagles are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Deer Trail's tournament run continued when they took on Miami-Yoder on Saturday. The Eagles lost 57-37 to the Buffaloes. The Eagles were down 44-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tyson Haight, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Anguiano, who posted eight points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Liberty Tree Academy beat Sheridan 63-57 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the War Eagles.

Deer Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Liberty Tree Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Deer Trail suffered a grim 56-33 defeat to Liberty Tree Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
