Philip Simmons had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 57-12 victory over the Whale Branch Warriors. Considering the Iron Horses have won seven matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Omonte Taylor, who rushed for 130 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Those 130 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ben Brown was in the mix as well, providing Philip Simmons with one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Philip Simmons was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Another reason for the win was Philip Simmons' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Whale Branch's QB won't forget Roman Hood anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Hood also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Philip Simmons received some extra help from Brown, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Philip Simmons pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average over those games. As for Whale Branch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
