Basketball Game Preview: Woods Cross Wildcats vs. Bountiful RedHawks

Two dominant guards in Hunter Jackson and Bryson Heath are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Woods Cross Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Bountiful RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Woods Cross easily dispatched Roy on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Woods Cross fell just short of Northridge by a score of 68-65 on Wednesday. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 17-10 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Bountiful had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They blew past the Royals 67-46. Given the RedHawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Royals are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woods Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Bountiful, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.

Woods Cross didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bountiful in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woods Cross since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
