Dowagiac has gone a perfect 4-0 against Constantine recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Chieftains will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Dowagiac is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Dowagiac managed to slip by Edwardsburg the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Chieftains lost 10-1 to the Eddies on Tuesday. The Chieftains' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Dowagiac saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charleigh Reed, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Constantine). They walked away with a 20-16 win over Sturgis on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on four straight.
The team relied heavily on Abigail Robinson, who went 3-for-6 with five runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anndee Evans, who went 3-for-6 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Constantine's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Dowagiac, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-11.
Constantine's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dowagiac has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Constantine, though, as they've been averaging 10.1 hits. Given Dowagiac's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.
Dowagiac got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Constantine by a conclusive 18-7 score. Do the Chieftains have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
