Baseball Game Preview: Countryside Christian Minutemen vs. Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs

The Countryside Christian Minutemen will head out to face off against the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Countryside Christian has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Countryside Christian heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Tuesday. They lost 16-3 to Oak Hall. The defeat continues a trend for the Minutemen in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Hunter Burgess was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Mount Dora Christian Academy got themselves on the board against First Academy on Thursday, but First Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Mount Dora Christian Academy also got a great performance from Ethan Priest as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Priest a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Wise, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Mount Dora Christian Academy is 3-1 when Wise posts three or more RBI, but 10-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Calton, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Mount Dora Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Academy struck out 11 times.

The win got Mount Dora Christian Academy back to even at 13-13. As for Countryside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
