League recap: Fort Hill extends winning streak with victory over Chestnut Ridge

Fort Hill added to the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Chestnut Ridge, 21-17. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.

Mountain Ridge was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 12th to 10th in the league. The Miners beat Southern 36-17 earlier in the week.

Northern's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Logan Yommer threw for 80 and 1 touchdown and Jake Vernon had 67 yards receiving. On the ground Nate Durst chipped in 54 yards. Trevon Jones helped Northern's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 59 yards.

The Huskies' dynamic duo of Yommer and Vernon proved tough for Allegany to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jones helped Northern's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 59 yards.

Meshach Metz provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Northern lost to the Campers. He completed 4 passes for 98 yards and also ran for 14 yards.

6-foot-4 quarterback David Sills of Eastern Christian Academy is the league leader in passing yards this season with 783. He has also thrown 9 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jones. The Northern star has 12 catches for 129 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Fort Hill takes on Mountain Ridge. Todd Appel's team is currently in first, while the Miners are in 10th.

Poolesville and Wheaton played the closest game in Freelance this week, with Poolesville eventually emerging with a 23-20 victory.
