Basketball Recap: Union Mine Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Union Mine extended their home winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Matt Manfredi. The Union Mine Diamondbacks were the clear victor by an 87-67 margin over the El Dorado Cougars on Friday thanks in part to Manfredi, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a triple-double on 30 points, nine boards, and nine assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played.

Christian McPartland was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Ryan McCarty, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Baker, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Union Mine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for El Dorado, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Union Mine will venture away from home to square off against Liberty Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Mine has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. El Dorado has already played their next contest, an 81-58 win against Galt on the 27th.
