Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Caruthers

Caruthers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Riverdale Cowboys. The Blue Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cowboys, too.

The team relied heavily on Madison Gamboa, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Juliana Lemus, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Caruthers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .464 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Caruthers' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Riverdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.

Caruthers will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cowboys: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
