Softball Recap: Lakes Takes a Loss

Lakes came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lincoln Abes by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Abes from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Savanna Newville made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Serenity Melton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Lakes' defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season.
