Volleyball Recap: Bluefield Takes a Loss

Bluefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Graham G-Men. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Beavers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Bluefield took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-21.

Their offense was headlined by Jaleigh Smith and Faye Jackson, who picked up six kills apiece. Jackson really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with six. Finally, Smith was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high nine blocks.

Kami Newman was a one-woman wrecking crew For Graham. as she had 19 digs and five assists. That's the most digs Newman has posted over her last six matchups.

Bluefield's loss dropped their record down to 1-15-1. As for Graham, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Graham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Lebanon on the 2nd. Hopefully Bluefield paid attention to the G-Men's contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the G-Men at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
