Baseball Recap: Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sullivan Redskins, sneaking past 5-4. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 10-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Marcus Otto made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Otto wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Butcher, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Sullivan, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond will venture away from home to face off against Cerro Gordo/Bement at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sullivan, they will face off against Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
