Recap: Mountainair Mustangs vs. Alamo Navajo Cougars
It was a good run, but the Mountainair Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Alamo Navajo by a score of 61-59. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountainair in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.
It was another big night for Scotty Guerro, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds for Alamo Navajo. The team also got some help courtesy of Cobre Mexicano, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Mountainair's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Alamo Navajo, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
Mountainair will head out on the road to challenge the Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alamo Navajo, they will be playing at home against the Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Evangel Christian Academy/Oak Grove Classical Academy is ranked 88th, while the Cougars are ranked 85th).
