Baseball Game Preview: Daniel Lions vs. Seneca Bobcats

For the second straight game, Daniel will face off against Seneca. The Lions will host the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Daniel 3.8, Seneca 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

It was a proper cat-fight when Daniel took on Seneca on Tuesday. The Lions fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-2. The Lions have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For Seneca's part, Tyler Vassey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Vassey has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seneca saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey McGovern, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Seneca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Daniel, their loss dropped their record down to 21-10.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Daniel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Seneca struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
