Soccer Recap: Spooner Takes a Loss

Spooner's game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of the Cumberland Beavers by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Cumberland this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in September.

Spooner's goal came courtesy of Brody Garrett, who's now up to six this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Spooner and nudges their season record down to 4-8-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2-2 Barron (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.1% over those games). As for Cumberland, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5-2.

Spooner didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-1 defeat against Washburn on the 7th. As for Cumberland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next matchup, a 0-0 draw against Barron on the 7th.
