Basketball Recap: Mullins' Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Mullins waltzed into their contest on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Richland Northeast Cavaliers 72-34. The Auctioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Mullins' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ernest Ford led the charge by going 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Ford a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakarai Worley, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Mullins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 23 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Mullins' victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Richland Northeast, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

After both having extra time off, Mullins and Manning will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:45 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
