Baseball Recap: Ashland Takes a Loss

Ashland fell victim to Thurston and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Colts by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Grizzlies were not able to get on the board.

Logan Trivette spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malakai Chandler, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Ashland has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Thurston, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.

While Ashland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
