Baseball Game Preview: Spencerport Rangers vs. Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets

The Spencerport Rangers will venture away from home to square off against the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Spencerport and Webster Thomas have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Rangers came up short against the Titans, falling 8-1.

Matt Green was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaeden Ford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Rush-Henrietta didn't have quite enough to beat McQuaid Jesuit on Thursday and fell 6-4. The Royal Comets haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Rush-Henrietta saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Wright, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Spencerport now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Rush-Henrietta, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Spencerport suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Rush-Henrietta when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
