North Central I league recap: 3/20/13

Middletown made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fourth to second place in North Central I thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Kelseyville fell hardest in the standings, dropping from third all the way to fifth place after going 1-2 in the past week. St. Helena (6-4) is now in first place.

The Saints outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their two total wins led the league. St. Helena beat Healdsburg 4-1.

After surrendering only seven walks in the past week, Clear Lake remains No. 1 in the league in that category for the season, with just nine total.

The league boasted three .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Logan Kessinger, who hit .500 by going 3-for-6.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Nic Vargas, who turned in 11 Ks for the Knights. With 16 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.

Vargas struck out 11 in Kelseyville's 8-1 win over Elsie Allen on March 14. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed one run on four hits.
