Basketball Recap: Benson Takes a Loss

Benson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Millard South Patriots, falling 67-29. The Bunnies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.

Millard South's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abbi Durow, who went 7-for-15 en route to 21 points. Durow is becoming a predictor of Millard South's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 11-3 (and 3-5 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aubrey Carder, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points.

Benson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Millard South, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benson will square off against Bellevue West at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. As for Millard South, they will head out on the road to take on Lincoln North Star at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln North Star will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Millard South surely won't give up without a fight.
