Soccer Recap: San Leandro Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, San Leandro was not quite Mt. Eden's equal in the second half on Friday. They came up short against the Mt. Eden Monarchs, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Monarchs are ranked 254th).

San Leandro's goal came courtesy of Kevin Angel Gonzalez, who's now up to three this season.

San Leandro has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-2 record this season. As for Mt. Eden, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3-4.

San Leandro didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-2 draw against Alameda on the 21st. As for Mt. Eden, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Hayward on the 21st.
