The Edison Eagles will square off against East Brunswick Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Edison is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Piscataway an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Fugate and Callie DiBisceglie were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Fugate tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, DiBisceglie pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Fugate has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Fugate went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while DiBisceglie got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Casey Della Fave was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs and one RBI. K Harkins was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piscataway only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, East Brunswick Vo-Tech waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Patriots as they made off with a 17-2 win. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for East Brunswick Vo-Tech this season.
The victory was also the third in a row for Edison, bringing their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Brunswick Vo-Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
