Baseball Recap: St. John-Vianney Takes a Loss

After flying high against Freehold Boro last Wednesday, St. John-Vianney came back down to earth. The Lancers fell 3-0 to the Holmdel Hornets on Thursday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.

Eli Calderone was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

St. John-Vianney dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Holmdel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, St. John-Vianney will venture away from home to face off against Howell at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Holmdel, they will face off against Matawan Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hornets are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
