Softball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport was the 22-8 winner over White County Central when they last played one another back in April of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Greyhounds lost 8-1 to the Bears on Monday. The Greyhounds' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Rylin Shelton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for White County Central, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport will welcome Rivercrest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for White County Central, they will host Quitman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
