Softball Recap: Moravia Comes Up Short

Moravia dropped their record down to 9-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 12-6 to the Union Springs Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-6 back in April.

Davida Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Lily Heim was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

As for Union Springs, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Considering they have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Union Springs' side, Paityn Delaney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Delaney has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Union Springs got a massive performance out of Abbi Tracy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Mennerich, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moravia will face off against Dryden at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Union Springs, they will square off against Tioga at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
