Softball Game Preview: Richmond Blue Devils vs. Cass City Red Hawks

The Richmond Blue Devils are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Cass City Red Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Richmond needed a bit of extra time to put away Algonac. They had just enough and edged out the Muskrats 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Cass City never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Vassar with a sharp 21-0 win. The Red Hawks haven't had any issues with the Vulcans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Richmond pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cass City, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Richmond skirted past Cass City 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
