Preview: Florence Huskies vs. Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs
The Florence Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Florence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, it was a hard-fought match, but Florence had to settle for a 54-51 defeat against Buena Vista. Florence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gage Goodall , who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. He scored a full 31.4% of Florence's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Royer, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Pueblo Centennial was the victim of a rough 65-42 loss at the hands of Harrison on Saturday.
Shon West put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Xavian Ramos was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Lamar's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Florence's loss dropped theirs to 0-1.
Florence came out on top in a nail-biter against Pueblo Centennial in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, sneaking past 81-79. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florence since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
