Basketball Game Preview: Clay Center Tigers vs. Riley County Falcons

Clay Center and Riley County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Clay Center Tigers will head out to square off against the Riley County Falcons on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Clay Center will head out to face Riley County after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. Clay Center fell to Holcomb 59-53.

Meanwhile, Riley County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 56-26 loss at the hands of Moundridge. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Wildcats are ranked eighth).

Riley County's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Clay Center, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Clay Center took their win against Riley County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 73-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clay Center since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
