Softball Game Preview: Beloit Memorial Purple Knights vs. Elkhorn Elks

The Beloit Memorial Purple Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Elkhorn Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Beloit Memorial has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Elkhorn will come in with seven straight wins.

Beloit Memorial came up short against Janesville Craig on Wednesday, falling 13-5.

Beloit Memorial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelynn Karr, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Abigail Middleton was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn hadn't done well against Beloit Memorial recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Elks came out on top against the Purple Knights by a score of 8-4. While the Elks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Veronica Siegler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Schliepp, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marlee Wester, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Beloit Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Elkhorn, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
