Baseball Recap: Waldron Takes a Loss

Waldron blew Morristown out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Morristown got their revenge. The Mohawks fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 7-5. The Mohawks' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Waldron saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J.D. Smith, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The Mohawks are 2-1 when Smith posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-9 otherwise.

Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Morristown, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Waldron will head out to square off against Cambridge City Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mohawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Morristown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Anderson Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.92 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
