Softball Game Preview: Staunton Storm vs. Wilson Memorial Green Hornets

Staunton is 0-10 against Wilson Memorial since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Storm will be playing at home against the Green Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Staunton has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Staunton is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game last Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 23-2 to Waynesboro, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wilson Memorial and Fort Defiance meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Green Hornets walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Indians.

Staunton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Wilson Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Staunton suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Wilson Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
