Softball Recap: Holy Cross Sets Scoring Season-High Against Calvary Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Cross). Everything went their way against the Calvary Christian Cougars on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Evie Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Madison Urlage was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Suzette Klaiss, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will face off against Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calvary Christian, they will challenge Villa Madonna at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
