Softball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

Belmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Booneville Blue Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since April 15, 2024.

Britley Hardin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Booneville, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2.

While Belmont had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
